The 18th BRICS summit was held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on 12–13 September 2026 under the theme «Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability». Leaders of the ten member states and the ten partner countries took part; Burundi, the Philippines and Uruguay were invited as representatives of the African Union, ASEAN and CELAC, together with the New Development Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
The New Delhi Declaration, adopted on 12 September, comprises 140 paragraphs. In science and technology it endorses cooperation on artificial intelligence, digital public infrastructure, quantum technologies, research networks and start-up ecosystems, and welcomes the creation of a BRICS Incubator Network. In health it endorses a BRICS Mission for Healthy Lifestyle and a network of centres of excellence in mental health. Cultural and people-to-people exchange is reaffirmed as one of the three pillars of the group. The leaders supported China's chairmanship in 2027 and its hosting of the 19th summit.
Alongside the summit India's Ministry of Education organised the «Bharat Innovates» exposition, which the leaders visited on 12 September. The declaration's support for research networks and university-based incubators corresponds to the Alliance's programme of joint research and expert projects of academies and universities of the BRICS countries.
